Memories after resurrection

Postby Stitch » Tue May 11, 2010 3:09 am

I've heard several different things about memories after resurrection, so I wanted to post the question(s) publicly...

Do you remember how you died?
Do you lose your memories of the previous hour?
If so, are those memories permanently lost?

(anything else related to resurrection would be helpful in this discussion :-) )

As I understand it. Under normal circumstances you remember everything you saw and heard up until you lost consciousness. So...let's say Mary is an adventurer.

Mary is being attacked from the front by a goblin, she fights back and it finally kills her. She remembers fighting a goblin and being run through by a sword.

Mary is walking down the path. Bob the ninja sneaks up behind Mary and waylays her then kills her. Mary remembers walking down the road, a sharp pain, but nothing else.

Mostly...even though you as a player will usually know who or what killed your character, if it surprised you and you didn't see it, they didn't.

The one hour of memory loss is something I haven't heard at all. There are potions and things to make you lose memories, maybe that's what people meant? I believe things forgotten due to a forget-me-well are lost forever unless recovered by help of a stone elf or biata.

^.^; Again, I can't say for sure. Maybe someone more experienced knows more?

Just to clarify.

In the original rules it states that you do not remember the hour after your death unless you draw a memory bead when resurrecting.
However, there is a play-test that Nero Piedmont uses that allows you to remember your death automatically.
The only way for your character to not remember its death is by being fed a forget-me-not elixir which replaces 15 minutes of memory or a forget-it-well elixir which replaces 1 hour of memory.
May your travels treat you well,

The Memory Stone rule has been obsolete and unused in NERO since prior to my beginning play in 1996.

There actually are chapters that still use memory stones, but not many. As for forget poisons, "Forget-it-Well" and "Forget-me-Not", their effects are permenant, the abilities of Stone Elves and Biata can NOTcounteract these effects.
